The popular South African Cheese Festival was honoured with the prestigious award of joint Best Consumer Exhibition in the category for over 12 000 m2 (sharing the honour with MamaMagic, Johannesburg) at the first ever AAXO (Association of African Exhibition Organisers) Awards Evening at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg held on 26 January 2017.
The 2016 SA Cheese Festival competed against a record number of exhibitions in five categories which was judged by respected industry experts like Talita Myburg, Business Unit Director, Grey Advertising, Clinton Souter, National Sales Manager, Franke, Dirk Elzinger, MD, Convention Industry Consultants, Martin Hiller, Associate Publisher and Editor, 3S media, Chantal Riley Marketing Manager, Clockwork Media and Anton Post, MD, Sanctuary Retreats.
“When you have the opportunity to judge so many unique and interesting entries it just demonstrates the skilled and dedicated professionals we have in exhibitions in South Africa. It drives home the fact that the South African Exhibitions industry can truly compete on an international stage.” said judge Martin Hiller
The SA Cheese Festival was also a finalist in the ‘Distinction in Greening’ category,where the contribution toward recycling, sustainability and evironmental conservation of an exhibition is considered.
“We are honoured that an outdoor event that focusses only on agricultural products, and with the main goal to promote the image of agriculture recieved this accolade amongst all the other professional exhibitions. To be a finalist in the ‘Distinction in Greening’ category further emphasise our responsibilty as an Agricultural Society towards conservation”, said Johan Ehlers, CEO of Agri-Expo, organisers of the SA Cheese Festival
